India’s First AI Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to Be Established in Chhattisgarh and RackBank to Invest ₹1,000 Crore.

On May 28, 2025, India took a significant leap towards becoming a global technology hub with the announcement of the country’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-focused Special Economic Zone (SEZ).


      - The SEZ will be developed in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh, by RackBank Data Centers Private Limited — a carbon-neutral data center company based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh — with an investment of ₹1,000 crore.

      - The project aims to create a dedicated ecosystem for AI research, development, and deployment, offering cutting-edge infrastructure to support next-generation digital innovations.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The RackBank Data Center SEZ will span six acres and feature a 1.5 lakh sq. ft. facility. It will be outfitted with advanced servers and high-performance systems capable of supporting intensive AI workloads and large-scale digital operations.

      (ii) The SEZ is envisioned as a digital nerve centre for India, with plans to develop four high-density data centres with a combined capacity of 80 Megawatts (MW).

(iii) This capacity will be sufficient to power AI and digital infrastructure requirements across multiple Indian states.
