National

On May 27, 2025, Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), approved the execution model for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme, marking a significant move towards strengthening indigenous defence capabilities and promoting a robust domestic aerospace industrial ecosystem.

      - The AMCA programme will be implemented by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA), under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with industry partners.

      - The Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) is India’s indigenously developed fifth-generation stealth fighter aircraft. It will feature stealth technology, supercruise capability, advanced avionics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted systems.

Main Point :-   (i) The Execution Model provides equal opportunities for both public and private sector entities to participate on a competitive basis. Bidding can be done independently, as a Joint Venture (JV), or through consortia.

(ii) Participating entities must be Indian companies compliant with national laws and regulations.

(iii) The approval of this model is a key step in utilizing indigenous expertise, capacity, and capability to develop the AMCA prototype—an important milestone towards achieving Atmanirbharta (self-reliance) in the aerospace sector.
