Sumeet Tappoo Honoured with Companion of the Order of Fiji for His Humanitarian Work and Musical Achievements.

In May 2025, Fiji-born and Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based singer and humanitarian Sumeet Tappoo was conferred with the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the nation’s highest civilian honour.
- The prestigious award was presented by the President of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Tawakecolati Lalabalavu, during a ceremonial event held at the State House in Suva, the capital of Fiji.
- This recognition, comparable to India’s Bharat Ratna, was bestowed upon Tappoo for his exceptional contributions to Fiji through his musical talent and humanitarian service.
- Recently, Sumeet Tappoo was awarded the Companion of the Order of Fiji, the country’s highest civilian honour, recognizing his outstanding contributions in music and humanitarian service. Alongside him, Dr. Krupali Tappoo and Sri Madhusudan Sai were also honoured for their impactful work. The awardees were described as “beacons of compassion and cultural pride for the people of Fiji.”
Main Point :- (i) Sumeet Tappoo is the Chairman of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital in Fiji—the South Pacific's first super-specialty pediatric cardiac hospital offering free surgeries. He is also the Director of Sai Prema Foundation Fiji, a leading NGO committed to healthcare, education, nutrition, and social service for underprivileged Fijians.
(ii) Starting his music career at age 8, Sumeet became a professional Indian music artist in 2004 in Mumbai. He has earned numerous awards, including the 2020 Fiji Presidential Medal, 2021 Pravasi Bharatiya Samman, World Book of Records recognition, and the 2022 Youth Icon of Fiji title.
(iii) He also won 3 CLEF Music Awards in 2023 and received honours from ISKCON and the Government of India for promoting Indian culture.
