Union MoS L. Murugan Unveils Postage Stamp to Honour King Perarasar Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar’s Legacy.

On 23 May 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) Dr. Loganathan Murugan, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (MPA), announced the release of a commemorative postage stamp in honour of the Tamil king, Perarasar Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar.


      - The announcement was made during the celebration of the 1,350th birth anniversary of the king at the Government Memorial Complex in Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu (TN).

      - The commemorative postage stamp, featuring the image of King Perarasar Perumpidugu Mutharaiyar, is scheduled to be officially released in 2026.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Union MoS Dr. L. Murugan also announced the upcoming construction of a manimandapam (memorial hall) in honour of the king, to celebrate and preserve his contribution to Tamil heritage and history.

      (ii) In May 2025, the Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Forest Department (TNFD), released a special cover for the "Born to Fly" campaign.

(iii) The special cover release marked the International Day for Biological Diversity 2025 (observed on May 22) and took place at the Head Post Office in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
