In May 2025, Union Minister Amit Shah, who heads both the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Ministry of Cooperation (MoC), launched the revamped Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Portal in New Delhi.

      - The upgraded portal is designed to provide a seamless digital experience for over 5 million existing OCI cardholders and simplify the application process for new applicants.

      - The original OCI Services portal, operational since 2013, currently functions through more than 180 Indian missions worldwide and 12 Foreigners Regional Registration Offices (FRROs), processing nearly 2,000 applications daily.

Main Point :-   (i) The revamped OCI portal is now live at the existing URL: https://ociservices.gov.in. This launch highlights India’s continued commitment to its overseas diaspora by delivering a more secure, efficient, and user-centric digital experience for Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders and applicants.

(ii) The new portal comes with several enhanced features to improve accessibility and convenience. These include a user sign-up option, auto-fill functionality for profile details in registration forms, and a dashboard that displays both completed and partially filled applications—making the entire OCI process more streamlined and user-friendly.
