Bihar Hosts Its First International Buyer-Seller Meet to Enhance Agri-Food Export Opportunities.

In May 2025, Bihar hosted its first-ever International Buyer-Seller Meet (IBSM) from May 19-20 at Gyan Bhawan, Patna. The event was organized by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) in collaboration with the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), New Delhi, and the Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI).


      - The meet was inaugurated by Union Minister Chirag Paswan and attended by key dignitaries including Vijay Kumar Sinha, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Mishra, Industries Minister of Bihar, along with several senior officials.

      - Over 70 international buyers from 20 countries, including the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Singapore, Japan, Ghana, Spain, Germany, and the United Kingdom (UK), participated in the event.

      - The primary goal was to establish direct market linkages between Bihar’s Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with global buyers, thereby boosting the export of Bihar’s agri-food products.

Main Point :-   (i) More than 500 structured B2B meetings took place, promoting Bihar’s signature agricultural products such as GI-tagged Makhana, Shahi Litchi, Zardalu Mango, and Katarni Rice.

      (ii) A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APEDA, the Government of Bihar, and UAE-based Lulu Group International to enhance the export potential and shelf life of Bihar’s litchi.
