Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lays Foundation Stone for Rs 42.4 Crore Integrated Aquapark in Tripura.

In May 2025, Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh (Lalan Singh), Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying (MoFAH&D) and Minister of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), laid the foundation stone for a Rs. 42.4 crore Integrated Aquapark in Kailashahar, Tripura, under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY).


      - The event also featured the inauguration of a one-day Fish Festival in Agartala, celebrating Tripura’s rich aquatic biodiversity and cultural heritage.

      - The Integrated Aquapark will house hatcheries, feed mills, cold storage, processing units, training centers, and marketing facilities all under one roof.

      - Tripura is one of four northeastern states among 11 national aquaparks aimed at increasing the state’s annual fish production target to 2 lakh tonnes.

Main Point :-   (i) Over the past decade, Tripura has received Rs. 319 crore in funding through PMMSY and the Blue Revolution to expand its aquaculture sector.

      (ii) During the event, certificates, sanction orders, and Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) were distributed to beneficiaries in the fisheries sector.

(iii) Tripura, with a high per capita fish consumption of over 29 kg annually, has made significant progress in fisheries development, and this new initiative is expected to further boost the state’s fisheries industry while contributing to the Blue Economy.
