Aerospace Industries Launches ‘aerRecon ARM-5’ Defence Drones Under the aerShield Progra.

Science and Technology

In May 2025, Mumbai (Maharashtra)-based Aerpace Industries Limited (AEL) successfully tested India's next-generation smart Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) ecosystem under the aerShield initiative.

      - This Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered UAV ecosystem aims to boost India’s defence capabilities by minimizing human involvement and enhancing battlefield efficiency.

      - The system was developed in collaboration with Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Aerpace Robotics Private Limited, Hyderabad (Telangana)-based UAV Tech Pvt Ltd, and Pune (Maharashtra)-based Leospear Defence Pvt Ltd.

      - Central to the aerShield system is aerOS, an AI-driven autonomous control platform that supports real-time navigation, obstacle avoidance, mission execution, and precision targeting.

Main Point :-   (i) aerRecon Autonomous Reconnaissance Module (ARM)-5: A Vertical TakeOff and Landing (VTOL) drone designed for surveillance in high-altitude and remote border areas. It features a 2-meter wingspan, speeds of up to 125 km/h, and a payload capacity of 5 kilograms (kg).

(ii) aerRecon ARM-10: A Short TakeOff and Landing (STOL) drone variant built for extended-range surveillance operations.

(iii) aerReaper Autonomous Multi-Mission Ordnance (AMMO)-R7: A tactical kamikaze drone equipped to carry RPG-class payloads, used for precision strike missions.
