India Assumes Chairmanship of Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for 2025-26 at 67th General Body Meeting in Indonesia.

India officially took over the Chairmanship of the Asian Productivity Organization (APO) for the 2025–26 term during the 67th Governing Body Meeting (GBM) held from May 20 to 22, 2025, in Jakarta, Indonesia.
- The Indian delegation was led by Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, who also serves as the APO Director for India.
- As the new Chair, India reaffirmed its strong commitment to the APO Vision 2030 and the expansion of the Green Productivity 2.0 framework to promote sustainable development across Asia-Pacific.
- India stressed the importance of regional cooperation in advancing digital transformation, sustainability, innovation, and entrepreneurship, key pillars for driving future productivity.
Main Point :- (i) India expressed its intention to support inclusive and results-driven APO programs, aiming to address productivity and development challenges faced by member countries in a dynamic global landscape.
(ii) Over 100 Indian professionals participate each year in APO-led capacity-building initiatives via the National Productivity Council (NPC) under DPIIT, benefiting sectors such as industry, agriculture, and services.
(iii) The Asian Productivity Organization (APO), based in Tokyo, Japan, was established in 1961 and currently has 21 member countries. Its Governing Body is the top decision-making authority, meeting annually to steer APO’s strategic direction.
