MSDE Launches Pilot Apprenticeship Scheme for Youth in Northeast Region (NER).

On May 20, 2025, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) launched a Pilot Apprenticeship Scheme under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) to enhance apprenticeship opportunities in the North Eastern Region (NER).


      - This scheme aims to provide structured, paid, and quality apprenticeship training to youth across the Northeastern states.

      - The scheme was jointly launched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge), Jayant Chaudhary, MSDE, and Lalduhoma, Chief Minister of Mizoram, at an event held in Aizawl, Mizoram.

      - A budget of Rs. 43.93 crore has been allocated for this pilot project, including Rs. 4 crore dedicated to outreach, capacity building, and project implementation.

Main Point :-   (i) Under this advanced apprenticeship scheme, around 26,000 youths from the northeast region will receive an additional stipend of Rs. 1,500 per month for one year.

      (ii) The scheme’s implementation will be overseen by the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati (Assam), and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), New Delhi, with support from the Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDES) and other local institutions.
