Union Minister Pralhad Joshi Launches ‘Depot Darpan’ Portal Alongside Anna Mitra and Anna Sahayata Apps.

In May 2025, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) launched three key initiatives—‘Depot Darpan’ portal, ‘Anna Mitra’ app, and ‘Anna Sahayata’ app—at an event held by the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) in New Delhi.
- These tools aim to boost transparency, enhance infrastructure, and empower beneficiaries and frontline workers involved in distributing subsidized food grains under the National Food Security Act (NFSA).
- The Depot Darpan portal is a digital self-assessment and monitoring platform that helps depot officials track and improve their operational efficiency and warehousing standards.
- A new grading system rates depots based on operational performance (60%) and infrastructure quality (40%), measuring factors like storage loss, space use, manpower efficiency, and profitability.
Main Point :- (i) Depots that meet high standards will earn a prestigious 5-star rating, encouraging better management and service delivery.
(ii) The Anna Mitra mobile app allows Fair Price Shop (FPS) dealers to check stock receipts, view monthly sales reports, and receive important alerts from authorities, making their work smoother.
(iii) Overall, these initiatives represent a major step toward modernising the PDS, making it more accountable and user-friendly for all stakeholders.
