Akashteer Empowers India’s Defence and Indigenous System Thwarts Pakistani Aerial Strikes During Operation Sindoor.

Science and Technology

In May 2025, India’s fully indigenous and automated air defence control and reporting system, Akashteer, proved instrumental in neutralizing Pakistan’s aerial offensive during a four-day military standoff.

      - Acting as an impenetrable defence layer, Akashteer successfully intercepted and destroyed every incoming projectile, including missiles and drone swarms, during Operation Sindoor on May 9–10, 2025.

      - The system, including its advanced variant Akash NG, served as a silent sentinel, securing Indian skies with real-time detection and interception capabilities.

      - In contrast, Pakistan’s reliance on imported HQ-9 and HQ-16 air defence systems fell short, failing to intercept Indian counterstrikes.

Main Point :-   (i) Akashteer is a key component of India’s broader C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) infrastructure.

(ii) It automates the process of detecting, tracking, and engaging hostile aircraft, drones, and missiles.

(iii) Its vehicle-mounted design ensures high mobility and swift deployment, even under hostile battlefield conditions.
