KIYG 2025: Maharashtra Tops Medal Tally with 158 Medals as 7th Edition Held Across Bihar and Delhi.

In May 2025, the 7th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 was successfully conducted from May 4 to May 15, 2025, across five cities in Bihar—Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Begusarai—along with New Delhi (Delhi). The event was organized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) and the Sports Authority of India (SAI) under the Government of India (GoI).


      - Maharashtra emerged at the top of the medal tally by securing a total of 158 medals, comprising 58 gold, 47 silver, and 53 bronze. It was followed by Haryana in second place with 117 medals (39 gold, 27 silver, and 51 bronze), while Rajasthan secured third place with 60 medals (24 gold, 12 silver, and 24 bronze).

      - The 2025 edition of KIYG featured competitions across 28 sports disciplines. Notably, Sepak Takraw was included in the Games for the first time, marking its debut. In addition, E-sports was introduced as a demonstration sport, reflecting the evolving nature of competitive youth sports.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) are an essential component of the Khelo India Programme, launched by the Government of India on 14th October 2017.

      (ii) The programme aims to promote a strong sports culture at the grassroots level, identify young talent, and build a robust sports ecosystem across the country.
