National
In May 2025, the Uttar Pradesh (UP) government expanded its flagship One District One Product (ODOP) initiative by including 12 new district-specific products. This addition raises the total number of products under the ODOP scheme from 62 to 74.
- Among the newly inducted items are agricultural implements from Baghpat, hosiery products from Saharanpur, metal products from Ghaziabad, and metal and wooden handicrafts from Amroha. The additions reflect the growing focus on regional craftsmanship and industry specialization.
- Launched in January 2018, the ODOP scheme was initiated to identify and promote one unique product from each of UP’s 75 districts. The aim was to build a strong district-specific industrial base and contribute significantly to achieving a USD 1 trillion economy.
- ODOP not only focuses on product identification but also aims to boost the local economy by enhancing manufacturing, creating jobs, and encouraging exports of local products, thereby strengthening the MSME (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) ecosystem.
