In May 2025, Argentina-based football legend Luis Galván, a key member of Argentina's 1978 FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) World Cup-winning squad, passed away at the age of 77 in Córdoba, Argentina. He was born on 24 February 1948 in Fernández, Santiago del Estero, Argentina.


      - Luis Galván began his professional football career with Talleres de CĂłrdoba, a football club based in CĂłrdoba, Argentina, in 1970.

      - He spent the majority of his career with the club, making a record 503 appearances across two spells (1970–1982 and 1986–1987).

     

Main Point :-   (i) Luis Galván featured in every match of the 1978 FIFA World Cup, where Argentina defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in the final to claim their first World Cup title.

      (ii) He represented Argentina again in the 1982 World Cup, but the team was eliminated in the second round after losses to Brazil (3-1) and Italy (2-1).

(iii) He earned 34 international caps for Argentina between 1975 and 1983, including participation in the 1975 Pan American Games.
