Sri Lanka Hosts 4th RIMES Ministerial Conference in Colombo.

The Government of Sri Lanka hosted the 4th Ministerial Conference of the Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) from May 07 to May 09, 2025, in Colombo, its executive and judicial capital.
- The conference was supported by the World Bank (WB), headquartered in Washington DC, USA, through CARE Component-1, and by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), based in London, United Kingdom (UK).
- India participated as a co-chair alongside Sri Lanka at the ministerial conference. The Indian delegation was led by Dr. M. Ravichandran, Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).
- Theme: ‘Actionable Early Warnings and Climate Services for All’.
Main Point :- (i) Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, represented India at the RIMES Council Meeting, held on the sidelines of the ministerial conference.
(ii) The event concluded with the adoption of a Ministerial Declaration by RIMES member states, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing multi-hazard early warning systems, delivering climate services, and promoting disaster-resilient development across the region.
