Brazil selected as host for 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Sports

In May 2025, the international governing body for football, Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), has announced Brazil as the host country for the Women’s Football World Cup in 2027. The decision was made at the 74th FIFA Congress, held in Bangkok, Thailand.

      - The event is scheduled to take place from June 24 to July 25, 2027.

      - Brazil becomes the first country in South America to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup (WCC).

      - The 2027 edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup (WCC) will see an expansion in participation, with 32 national teams competing — an increase aimed at promoting inclusivity and global representation in women's football.

Main Point :-   (i) FIFA has selected 8 host cities and their stadiums in Brazil for the tournament: Rio de Janeiro (MaracanĂŁ Stadium), Belo Horizonte (MineirĂŁo Stadium), BrasĂlia (National Stadium), Fortaleza (CastelĂŁo Arena), Porto Alegre (Beira-Rio Stadium), Recife (Pernambuco Arena), Salvador (Fonte Nova Arena), and SĂŁo Paulo (Itaquera Arena). Notably, these 8 venues were among the 12 that hosted matches during the FIFA Men’s World Cup.

(ii) Brazil secured the hosting rights through a voting process, receiving 119 votes, defeating the joint European bid submitted by Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany, which received 78 votes. This strong mandate reflected broad international support for Brazil's proposal.

(iii) This event marks a historic first, as it was the first time FIFA’s full membership was involved in selecting the host nation for the Women’s World Cup. In past editions, the decision was made exclusively by the FIFA Council, signaling a shift toward greater transparency and inclusivity in the selection process
