World Bank Hosts Land Conference 2025 in Washington DC, USA.

The World Bank Land Conference 2025 (WBLC 2025), the premier international platform dedicated to the land sector, was held from May 5 to 8, 2025, in Washington DC, United States of America (USA).


      - Organised by the Washington (USA)-based World Bank (WB), this global event has been conducted for over 20 years, bringing together over 1,000 participants from sectors such as government, academia, civil society, and private enterprise.

      - Theme of WBLC 2025: “Securing Land Tenure and Access for Climate Action: Moving from Awareness.”

     

Main Point :-   (i) India was honoured as a ‘Country Champion’ during the conference under the leadership of Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR).

      (ii) This recognition highlighted India’s leadership in inclusive land governance and grassroots empowerment on the global stage.

(iii) A high-level Indian delegation, led by Vivek Bharadwaj, showcased India’s pioneering digital land reform initiatives—SWAMITVA Scheme (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) and Gram Manchitra, a GIS-based spatial planning platform, during two key sessions at WBLC 2025.
