C-DOT and CSIR-NPL Sign MoU to Enhance Quantum and Classical Communication Technologies.

MOUs and Agreement

In May 2025, the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), India’s premier telecom R&D institution under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications (MoC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research – National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), located in New Delhi (Delhi). CSIR-NPL is India’s National Metrology Institute (NMI).

      - The MoU aims to foster collaboration in the advancement of indigenous communication technologies.

      - The agreement establishes a long-term framework for joint research, development, standardization, and deployment of next-generation communication solutions. The collaboration particularly emphasizes strengthening both quantum and classical communication systems.

Main Point :-   (i) C-DOT will leverage its expertise in network protocols, Internet of Things (IoT), and quantum communication technologies, while CSIR-NPL will contribute strengths in scientific measurement, standardization, and SI traceability.

(ii) A key goal of the partnership is to enhance the security of digital communications by developing and deploying Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) techniques.

(iii) The collaboration will also prioritize the development of Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA)-based control electronics to support efficient and advanced quantum communication systems.
