Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy Launches New Portal to Strengthen Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling Ecosystem.
App and Web Portal
In May 2025, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, from the Ministry of Coal (MoC) and Ministry of Mines (MoM), launched the Non-Ferrous Metal Recycling Website and Stakeholders’ Portal to boost India’s non-ferrous metal recycling ecosystem.
- The launch event was held in New Delhi, in the presence of Minister of State (MoS) Satish Chandra Dubey, senior officials from MoM, and representatives from the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC).
- The portal was developed under the National Non-Ferrous Metal Scrap Recycling Framework (NNMSRF) to promote resource efficiency, data centralization, stakeholder empowerment, and transparency in the sector.
Main Point :- (i) The framework focuses on recycling critical non-ferrous metals like aluminium, copper, lead, zinc, and others, while establishing a National Registry for dismantlers, recyclers, traders, and collection centres to streamline sector operations.
(ii) It features Data Tracking Tools to monitor raw material flows, product categories, technology adoption, and workforce trends, along with Performance Benchmarking mechanisms to assess sector efficiency.
(iii) The portal supports Gap Identification in infrastructure and skill development and offers Support Systems for standardization, certification, and awareness initiatives to promote sustainable recycling practices.
