According to MoA&FW Report's 97% Claims Settled under PMFBY and Three Indian States Achieve 100% Payouts.

As per data presented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) in the Lok Sabha in April 2025, 97% of total reported claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and Restructured Weather Based Crop Insurance Scheme (RWBCIS) have been settled across India. Out of the total claims worth Rs 1,38,401 crore, nearly Rs 1,34,353 crore have been successfully disbursed.


      - Four Indian states and union territories have achieved 100% claim settlement under PMFBY and RWBCIS. These are Goa, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu (TN)—indicating full compensation to farmers for their crop loss claims under these schemes.

      - In the last six financial years, Maharashtra filed the highest claims worth Rs 33,259 crore, accounting for about 24% of the total national claims. Rajasthan followed with Rs 25,284 crore, and Madhya Pradesh (MP) with Rs 22,749 crore.

     

Main Point :-   (i) In terms of actual payouts to farmers, Maharashtra again led with Rs 32,628 crore disbursed. Rajasthan paid Rs 24,806 crore, and MP paid Rs 22,274 crore, reflecting their strong implementation of the insurance schemes.

      (ii) At the other end, Goa and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands each recorded the lowest payout at Rs 0.1 crore, followed by Sikkim at Rs 0.6 crore, and Manipur at Rs 6.2 crore, indicating relatively lower dependence on the schemes or fewer reported crop damages in these regions.
