World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed globally every year on April 28 to raise awareness about promoting safe workplaces, reducing work-related accidents and diseases, and advocating for Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.


      - This observance is led by the International Labour Organization (ILO), a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN), which is committed to promoting social justice and advancing internationally recognized human and labor rights.

      - The theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 is "Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalisation at Work," highlighting the importance of modern technologies in ensuring safer working environments.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The ILO established World Day for Safety and Health at Work in 2003 during the International Labour Conference (ILC), coinciding with the adoption of the Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health. This strategy aimed to promote workplace safety and health standards worldwide.

      (ii) The first official World Day for Safety and Health at Work was observed on April 28, 2003.
