Madhya Pradesh Set to Launch 'Krishak Kalyan Mission' Aimed at Enhancing Farmer Incomes.

In April 2025, the State Cabinet of Madhya Pradesh (MP), led by Chief Minister (CM) Mohan Yadav, approved the launch of the MP Krishak Kalyan Mission (KKM) to consolidate various farmer welfare schemes operating under different departments.
- The mission aims to integrate initiatives from multiple departments to streamline and enhance farmer welfare. These departments include the Farmers' Welfare and Agriculture Development Department, Horticulture and Food Processing Department, and Fisheries Department. Together, they focus on improving core agriculture, value addition, and aquaculture promotion.
- Additionally, the mission involves the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department, Cooperative Department, and the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection Department. These departments contribute by supporting livestock-based income, facilitating collective farming and credit access, and ensuring fair pricing and food security for farmers.
Main Point :- (i) The mission aims to boost farmers' income by ensuring fair pricing of agricultural produce, securing nutritional and food security, and offering sustainable livelihood opportunities.
(ii) It emphasizes climate-resilient agriculture, encourages sustainable farming practices, and seeks to preserve biodiversity and traditional agricultural knowledge.
(iii) Madhya Pradesh's agricultural productivity rose significantly from 1,195 kg/hectare in 2002-03 to 2,393 kg/hectare in 2024, marking a 200% increase.
