The United Nations (UN) annually observes World Creativity and Innovation Day (WCID) on 21 April to raise global awareness about the role of creativity and innovation in promoting human development and achieving sustainable growth.
- World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW) is celebrated from 15th to 21st April 2025, aligning with the birth anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci, who was born on 15th April. This week-long celebration recognizes the importance of creativity and innovation in driving progress and honors one of history’s greatest creative minds.
Main Point :- (i) On 27 April 2017, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted Resolution A/RES/71/284, officially designating 21 April as World Creativity and Innovation Day.
(ii) WCID was first celebrated on 21 April 2018 following its UN recognition.
(iii) The day is observed in 50+ countries, including India, the United States of America (USA), and European Union (EU) nations.
