National Civil Services Day is observed annually across India on April 21 to recognize and celebrate the crucial role of civil servants in governance and the nation’s overall development.


      - April 21, 2025, marks the 17th National Civil Services Day observance.

      - The first Civil Services Day was inaugurated in 2006 by then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

      - Since then, the day has been commemorated each year with conferences, award ceremonies, and dialogues between senior civil servants and government leaders.

Main Point :-   (i) The 2025 Civil Services Day was organized as a full-day conference at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The event brought together top civil servants, government officials, and dignitaries to discuss public administration reforms and governance strategies.

      (ii) One of the key highlights of the event was the presentation of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2025. These awards recognize outstanding innovations, initiatives, and reforms carried out by various government departments and officers across the country.

(iii) During the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Science & Technology (MoS&T) and the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (MoPPG&P), shared that the IAS 2023 batch includes 74 women officers, the highest number to date, accounting for 41% of the total 180 officers in the batch.
