In April 2025, the Geneva (Switzerland)-based United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) released its latest report titled "Trade and Development Foresights 2025 – Under Pressure: Uncertainty Reshapes Global Economic Prospects." According to the report, India’s economy is projected to grow at 6.5% in Calendar Year 2025 (CY25), compared to an estimated 6.9% growth rate in CY24.

      - The report attributed India’s projected growth in CY25 to strong public spending and a continuing easing of the monetary system.

      - Despite experiencing a slight slowdown in 2024, India is expected to remain the fastest-growing economy in the world.

Main Point :-   (i) The report also forecasts that global economic growth will decline to 2.3% in 2025, down from 2.8% in 2024, reflecting global uncertainties and economic pressures.

(ii) Additionally, it estimates that the South Asia region will experience 5.6% growth in 2025. This growth is expected to be supported by declining inflation and a more accommodative monetary environment across most countries in the region.
