In ACI’s World’s Top 10 Busiest Airports 2024 rankings Atlanta Tops the List, Delhi Secures 9th Position.

In April 2025, the Montreal (Canada)-based Airports Council International (ACI) World released its Annual Rankings of the World’s Busiest Airports for 2024. According to the report, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), New Delhi (Delhi) ranked 9th among the world's top 10 busiest airports in the 'passenger' category. Over time, Delhi Airport has consistently improved its global ranking—from 17th in 2019, 13th in 2021, to 10th in 2023.


      - In 2024, IGIA recorded 77 million passengers, showing a growth of 7.8% over 2023 and 13.6% compared to 2019.

      - Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in the United States of America (USA) retained its position as the world’s busiest airport, managing over 108 million passengers in 2024.

      - It was followed by Dubai International Airport (DXB) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) in the USA, securing the 2nd and 3rd ranks, respectively.

Main Point :-   (i) According to ACI World’s latest preliminary data, global passenger traffic reached nearly 9.5 billion in 2024, reflecting a 9% increase over 2023 and a 3.8% rise compared to pre-pandemic (2019) levels.

      (ii) The world’s top 10 busiest airports collectively accounted for 855 million passengers or 9% of total global traffic, showing an 8.8% increase over 2023 and 8.4% over 2019.
