Brice Oligui Nguema Elected as Gabon's President for a 7-Year Term.

In April 2025, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, who had been serving as the interim President of Gabon, was officially elected as the President of Gabon, as per the provisional results declared by the Ministry of Interior (MoI) of Gabon.


      - He won by a significant margin, securing 90.35% of the total votes, while his nearest competitor, former Prime Minister Alain Claude Bilie-By-Nze, received only 3% of the vote share.

      - With this victory, Brice Oligui Nguema begins a full seven-year presidential term.

      - This was Gabon’s first presidential election since the 2023 military coup, which ended the Bongo political dynasty that ruled Gabon for over 56 years.

Main Point :-   (i) Brice Oligui Nguema is a Gabonese politician and military leader who assumed interim presidency in August 2023 after removing President Ali Bongo Ondimba, who served from 2009 to 2023.

      (ii) He led the Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions (CTRI), the military junta that ruled Gabon post-coup.

(iii) Since 2020, he has also served as the Commander-in-Chief of the Gabonese Republican Guard.
