University of Jammu Honoured at 11th Annual Breakthrough Prizes 2025 for Scientific Excellence.

In April 2025, the 11th Annual Breakthrough Prizes—widely known as the Oscars® of Science—were announced by the Breakthrough Prize Foundation in a grand ceremony held in Santa Monica, California, USA. The prestigious event celebrated groundbreaking contributions in the fields of science and mathematics.


      - India’s contribution was highlighted as the High Energy Physics Group from the Department of Physics, University of Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir), was recognized as part of the international collaboration awarded the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.

      - This acknowledgment underscores the university’s significant role in advancing global scientific research.

      - The Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics was awarded to 13,508 physicists worldwide, including participants from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University (SBU), New York, USA.

Main Point :-   (i) Six New Horizons Prizes, each worth USD 100,000, were awarded to eight early-career physicists and mathematicians for their promising research contributions.

      (ii) Three women mathematicians, who recently earned their PhDs, received the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize, with each recipient being awarded USD 50,000.

(iii) The total prize money awarded in 2025 amounted to USD 18.75 million.
