The International Day for Street Children (IDSC) is observed annually across the world on April 12 to raise awareness about the challenges faced by millions of children living on the streets. The observance is led by the Consortium for Street Children (CSC), based in London, United Kingdom (UK).
- Each year, CSC announces a unique theme to spotlight the rights and needs of street-connected children globally.
- The theme for IDSC 2025 is "Participation", emphasizing the importance of involving street children in decisions that affect their lives.
Main Point :- (i) The first-ever International Day for Street Children was observed on April 12, 2011, launched by CSC, a global network of organizations dedicated to promoting and protecting the rights of street-connected children.
(ii) April 12 also marks the anniversary of the first United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Children, which was held in 1955.
