In April 2025, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was honoured as the Most Innovative Financial Institution globally in the 2025 Innovators list by Global Finance magazine (United States of America, USA), marking the first time a central bank has received this prestigious accolade.

  • - In the 2025 Innovators list, Global Finance magazine also recognised HSBC Holdings plc and Standard Chartered plc, both headquartered in London, United Kingdom (UK), for their innovation in the financial sector.
  • - The award acknowledges the Unified Lending Interface (ULI), a platform developed by the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), a wholly-owned subsidiary of RBI, headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
  • - ULI, launched as a pilot in August 2023, aims to enable frictionless credit delivery by providing lenders with seamless access to authenticated financial and non-financial data through standardised Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

  • (i) In its 12th Annual Innovators Awards 2025, Global Finance honoured the Most Innovative Banks and Fintech Companies globally and regionally.
