MoWCD’s Palna Scheme under Mission Shakti Ensures Quality Day-Care for Children Aged 6 Months to 6 Years.

The Palna Scheme, integrated within the Samarthya sub-scheme of Mission Shakti, stands as a vital initiative by the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) to ensure accessible and quality day-care services for children aged six months to six years.


      - To ease the burden on working mothers and ensure proper care and protection for their young children, the Palna Scheme facilitates the provision of day-care crèche services.

      - Under the Palna Scheme, key services include day-care facilities with proper sleeping arrangements, early stimulation activities for children below 3 years, and pre-school education for those aged 3 to 6 years. The scheme also ensures locally sourced supplementary nutrition, along with regular growth monitoring, health check-ups, and immunization support.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Palna Scheme Launched in 2022, the Palna Scheme is a restructured and renamed version of the former National Creche Scheme.

      (ii) Its core aim is to offer safe, nurturing, and development-focused crèche services, ensuring child health, cognitive growth, regular monitoring, immunization, and nutrition, in convergence with Mission Poshan 2.0.

(iii) Palna functions as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) with a funding ratio of 60:40 between the Central and State Governments and Union Territories (UTs) with legislatures. For North Eastern and Special Category States, the funding ratio is 90:10.
