In April 2025, Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Modi, undertook official visits to Thailand and Sri Lanka to strengthen bilateral relations and explore cooperation across multiple sectors.


      - PM Narendra Modi visited Thailand on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Thai PM, Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

      - He held comprehensive bilateral talks with PM Shinawatra, covering a wide range of cooperation areas such as defence and security, trade and investment, science & technology (S&T), innovation, space, education, health, culture, and tourism.

      - Key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit to boost collaboration in strategic sectors.

Main Point :-   (i) PM Narendra Modi visited Sri Lanka from April 5–6, 2025, on the official invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. This marked his fourth official visit to Sri Lanka, following earlier visits in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

      (ii) During a special ceremony held in Colombo, PM Modi was conferred with Sri Lanka’s highest civilian award, the ‘Mithra Vibhushana’, in recognition of his contribution to strengthening India-Sri Lanka relations.

(iii) The visit included high-level talks with President Dissanayake and the signing of several MoUs in strategic sectors such as defence, energy, digital infrastructure, healthcare, and trade, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation.
