MOSPI Unveils 26th Edition of ‘Women & Men in India 2024’ Featuring Key Selected Indicators and Data.

In April 2025, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) released the 26th edition of its publication titled ‘Women and Men in India 2024: Selected Indicators and Data’.


      - The publication provides comprehensive insights into India’s gender scenario, presenting selected indicators and data across critical sectors such as population, education, health, economic participation, and decision-making. All data has been compiled from various ministries, departments, and organizations.

      - The Gender Parity Index (GPI) at the primary level showed a rise from 1.02 (2020–21) to 1.05 (2022–23), followed by a slight dip to 1.03 in 2023–24.

      - Meanwhile, GPI at the secondary level has shown a steady increase from 0.99 (2020–21) to 1.02 (2023–24).

Main Point :-   (i) According to the publication, the Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR) in usual status for individuals aged 15 years and above has risen significantly from 49.8% (2017–18) to 60.1% (2023–24).

      (ii) The data also highlighted that women constitute 39.2% of all bank accounts and contribute to 39.7% of total bank deposits.
