International Children's Book Day (ICBD) is celebrated globally on 2 April every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Hans Christian Andersen, the renowned Danish author widely regarded as the "father of modern fantasy." The day highlights the pivotal role of children's literature in fostering creativity, empathy, and a lifelong passion for reading.
- The International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) – Netherlands is the official sponsor for ICBD 2025, observed under the theme: “The freedom of imagination to inspire young readers.”
- The observance is supported by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization's (UNESCO) Body Mind and Wellness (BMW) Club.
Main Point :- ICBD was first celebrated in 1967, initiated by IBBY, a global non-profit organization dedicated to promoting quality children's literature and reading.
