World Autism Awareness Day Observed on 2 April 2025 to Promote Inclusion and Rights of Autistic Individuals.

The United Nations (UN)’s World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is observed annually on April 2 to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and promote the rights, dignity, and inclusion of autistic individuals.


      - On April 2, 2025, the world marked the 18th observance of WAAD.

      - The theme for WAAD 2025 is "Advancing Neurodiversity and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)".

      - The Institute of Neurodiversity (ION), a neuro minority-founded organisation based in Switzerland and active in 40 countries, is leading the 2025 event in collaboration with the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC).

Main Point :-   (i) On December 18, 2007, the UN General Assembly (UNGA) adopted Resolution A/RES/62/139, officially declaring April 2 as World Autism Awareness Day.

      (ii) The first observance of WAAD took place on April 2, 2008.
