In April 2025, Vandana Katariya, a legendary figure in Indian women's hockey, announced her retirement from international hockey, concluding an illustrious 15-year journey with the Indian national team.


      - With a career beginning in 2009, Katariya became the most-capped player in Indian women’s hockey history, recording 320 international appearances and scoring 158 goals.

      - She played a crucial role in India's historic fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, where she etched her name in the record books as the first Indian woman to score a hat-trick in Olympic hockey.

      - Her retirement marks the end of an era, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most accomplished and inspiring figures in Indian hockey.

Main Point :-   (i) Vandana Katariya represented India at the Olympics in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She played in the FIH Hockey Women's World Cups in 2018 and 2022. She also participated in three Commonwealth Games – 2014, 2018, and 2022 – where she helped secure a Bronze medal in 2022.

      (ii) Katariya was instrumental in India’s success at the Asian Games, winning a Silver medal in 2018 and Bronze medals in 2014 and 2022. She also clinched Gold in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy in 2016 and 2023, and won the FIH Nations Cup in 2022.
