ACC Recently Appointed Sivasubramanian Ramann as PFRDA Chairman for 5 Years.

In April 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), chaired by Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, approved the appointment of Sivasubramanian Ramann as the Chairman of the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) for a period of 5 years, effective from the date he assumes charge of the post, or until he attains the age of 65 years, or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.
- He will succeed Deepak Mohanty, who has been serving as the Chairman of PFRDA since 2023.
- At present, Ramann is serving as the Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India and the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the CAG of India.
- Sivasubramanian Ramann is a 1991 batch Indian Audit & Accounts Service (IA&AS) officer. He previously served as Chief General Manager (CGM) and Executive Director (ED) of SEBI between 2007 and 2013. In 2015-16, he was appointed as the Principal Accountant General (Audit) in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Main Point :- (i) From 2016 to 2021, Sivasubramanian Ramann was the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National E-Governance Services Limited (NeSL), India’s first information utility. In April 2021, he joined as Chairman & MD (CMD) of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).
(ii) He has held key positions under the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India in various states and also worked as Executive Secretary to the CAG of India.
(iii) PFRDA was initially established as a regulatory body to promote, develop, and regulate the pension sector in India. It gained statutory status through the PFRDA Act, 2013, which was passed in September 2013 and officially notified on February 1, 2014. PFRDA operates under the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance (MoF).
