India Won 10 Medals at 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships, Manisha Bhanwala Clinches Gold.

The Indian freestyle wrestling team concluded the 2025 Senior Asian Wrestling Championship held in Amman, Jordan, from March 25 to 30, 2025, with a total of 10 medals, including 1 Gold, 3 Silver, and 6 Bronze. This was the 21st edition of the championship, organized by United World Wrestling (UWW), Switzerland.


      - Manisha Bhanwala (Women's Wrestling - 62 kg) won India’s first and only Gold medal at the championship, defeating North Korea’s Ok J. Kim with a hard-fought 8-7 victory.

      - The 2025 Asian Wrestling Championships saw participation from over 370 wrestlers across Asia. Iran dominated the event, with multiple wrestlers reaching the finals. This was the first time Amman, Jordan, hosted the championship.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Udit (Freestyle - 61 kg) secured his 2nd consecutive silver medal, after winning silver in the 57 kg category in 2024.

      (ii) Olympian Deepak Punia (Freestyle - 92 kg) clinched silver, losing to Iran's Amir Hossein Firouzpour (10-0) via technical superiority in the final. This was his 5th medal and 3rd silver at the continental championships.

(iii) Sunil Kumar (Greco-Roman - 87 kg) won bronze, marking his 5th senior medal and 3rd bronze at the Asian Wrestling Championships, having also won bronze in 2022 and 2023.
