Rajiv Guaba has been appointed as the 5th full-time member of NITI Aayog.

In March 2025, the Government of India (GoI) appointed Rajiv Gauba, the former Cabinet Secretary (CS) of India, as the 5th full-time member of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), based in New Delhi (Delhi), with immediate effect.


      - His appointment is expected to strengthen NITI Aayog's efforts in strategic planning and policy formulation, helping India achieve its long-term development goals.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) Rajiv Gauba, a 1982-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has played a key role in shaping important government policies and reforms.

      (ii) He served as Cabinet Secretary for a record five years (2019-2024), making him the longest-serving person in this role, surpassing Pradeep Kumar Sinha's tenure.

(iii) During his time as Union Home Secretary, he played a crucial role in major governance reforms, including the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.
