On March 26, 2025, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry (MoC&I), conferred the National Intellectual Property (IP) Awards 2024 at a prestigious award function held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi (Delhi).


      - The awards are presented annually to recognize and honor individuals, institutions, organizations, and enterprises for their exceptional contributions to IP creation and commercialization.

      - This initiative highlights India's commitment to fostering innovation and strengthening its IP ecosystem, aligning with the vision of a Viksit Bharat.

      - The National IP Awards 2024 were presented across 13 categories, recognizing remarkable contributions from individuals, academic institutions, startups, and corporations, further solidifying India’s position as a global innovation leader.

Main Point :-   (i) Global Innovation Index (GII) 2024: India improved its rank from 81 (2015) to 39 (2024).

      (ii) India now ranks sixth globally for trademark filings, with approximately 100,000 patent grants in the past year, reflecting a surge in IP activity.

(iii) An 80% fee reduction has been introduced for women entrepreneurs, startups, and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to enhance IP participation.
