DoP Unveils ₹5 Commemorative Postage Stamp Honoring Mata Karma.

In March 2025, the Department of Posts (DoP) under the Ministry of Communications (MoC) issued a ₹5 commemorative postage stamp to honor Mata Karma, a revered saint, social reformer, and devoted follower of Lord Krishna, on her 1009th birth anniversary.


      - Chhattisgarh Chief Minister (CM) Vishnu Deo Sai released the postage stamp of Mata Karma during a special event held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) The stamp artistically portrays Mata Karma serving khichdi to Lord Krishna, with the sacred Jagannath Temple in the backdrop.

      (ii) This depiction honors the tradition initiated by Mata Karma, which remains an integral part of the temple's customs.

(iii) The commemorative stamp, along with philatelic items such as the First Day Cover (FDC) and Information Brochure, is available at Philately Bureaus nationwide and online at www.epostoffice.gov.in.
