MoE Launches 'Baalpan Ki Kavita' Initiative to Promote Indian Rhymes in Early Childhood Education.

On March 25, 2025, the Department of School Education & Literacy (DOSE&L), under the Ministry of Education (MoE), launched the "Baalpan ki Kavita" initiative to compile traditional and newly composed nursery rhymes in Bhartiya Bhasha (Indian languages) and English.


      - The initiative aims to enhance foundational learning by helping young children connect with their surroundings through joyful and easily understandable poems and rhymes in their mother tongue.

      - This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes incorporating culturally relevant content in children's native languages to strengthen early education.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The Department of School Education & Literacy (DoSE&L), in collaboration with MyGov, a digital platform providing access to Government of India services, launched a nationwide competition inviting contributions for the "Baalpan ki Kavita" initiative: Restoring Bhartiya rhymes/poems for young children.

      (ii) The contest invites participants to submit either traditional folklore rhymes (with author attribution) or newly composed, joyful poems in three categories: Pre-primary (ages 3-6), Grade 1 (ages 6-7), and Grade 2 (ages 7-8).

(iii) The competition will run from March 26, 2025, to April 22, 2025, and participants can submit their rhymes through the MyGov portal.
