Bellatrix Aerospace & Astroscale Japan Collaborate on Space Debris Removal and In-Orbit Mobility.

In March 2025, Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Bellatrix Aerospace Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Astroscale Japan, a subsidiary of Astroscale Holdings Inc. based in Tokyo, Japan, to advance efforts in active debris removal, satellite servicing, and in-orbit mobility.


      - This collaboration aims to foster a cleaner and safer space environment while supporting the growth and expansion of the Indian space industry within domestic markets.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) Astroscale Japan specializes in developing advanced in-orbit servicing and space debris mitigation solutions. The company offers scalable services, including satellite life extension, space situational awareness, end-of-life disposal, and active debris removal.

      (ii) Since March 2021, Astroscale has successfully demonstrated proximity and docking operations through its End-of-Life Services by Astroscale-demonstration (ELSA-d) and Active Debris Removal by Astroscale-Japan (ADRAS-J) missions. Its spacecraft have been selected for key space projects by global agencies and organizations.

(iii) Bellatrix Aerospace completed three space missions in 2024, securing space qualification for its Green Propulsion and Electric Propulsion-based Hall-Effect Thruster technologies, along with their subsystems.
