In March 2025, Bengaluru (Karnataka)-based Bellatrix Aerospace Private Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Astroscale Japan, a subsidiary of Astroscale Holdings Inc. based in Tokyo, Japan, to advance efforts in active debris removal, satellite servicing, and in-orbit mobility.

  • (i) Astroscale Japan specializes in developing advanced in-orbit servicing and space debris mitigation solutions. The company offers scalable services, including satellite life extension, space situational awareness, end-of-life disposal, and active debris removal.
  • (ii) Since March 2021, Astroscale has successfully demonstrated proximity and docking operations through its End-of-Life Services by Astroscale-demonstration (ELSA-d) and Active Debris Removal by Astroscale-Japan (ADRAS-J) missions. Its spacecraft have been selected for key space projects by global agencies and organizations.
  • (iii) Bellatrix Aerospace completed three space missions in 2024, securing space qualification for its Green Propulsion and Electric Propulsion-based Hall-Effect Thruster technologies, along with their subsystems.
