The United Nations (UN) World Poetry Day is annually observed across the globe on 21 March to promote linguistic diversity and support endangered languages through poetry, a form of art that connects different cultures, languages, and generations.


      - 21 March 2025 marks the observance of the 26th World Poetry Day.

      - The 2025 theme for World Poetry Day is: "Poetry as a Bridge for Peace and Inclusion."

     

Main Point :-   (i) In 1999, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), during its 30th General Conference in Paris, France, first proclaimed 21 March (the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere) of every year as World Poetry Day.

      (ii) The first-ever World Poetry Day was observed on 21 March 2000.
