GoI Forms Inter-Ministerial-Industry Committee on Fintech (IMICF) to Drive Sector Growth and Strategy.

In March 2025, the Government of India (GoI) established the Inter-Ministerial-Industry Committee on Fintech (IMICF) to address the challenges in the fintech sector and to develop strategies for its long-term expansion.


      - The committee is set to submit a detailed report within three months of its first meeting, outlining key recommendations for the growth and regulation of the fintech sector.

      - The committee will be chaired by Nagaraju Maddirala, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), and will include representatives from key government and regulatory bodies.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The panel will include prominent industry figures such as Lalit Keshre (CEO, Groww), Jitendra Gupta (Founder, Jupiter), Varun Dua (CEO, Acko General Insurance), Ajay Kaushal (Co-founder, BillDesk), Vishnu Pillai (KPMG), and Ashish Garg (McKinsey & Company).

      (ii) The committee will focus on examining the challenges faced by fintech companies, reviewing existing policies and regulations, and analyzing global best practices in fintech governance.

(iii) Based on these insights, the committee will propose a long-term vision strategy and recommendations to enhance the fintech ecosystem in India.
