ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan Inaugurates 'Shri S. Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence' at IIT Madras.

In March 2025, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), inaugurated the 'Shri S. Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Fluid and Thermal Science Research' at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.


      The centre is named after S. Ramakrishnan, the former Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, who made significant contributions to launch vehicle engineering.

     

     

Main Point :-   (i) The 'Arcot Ramachandran Seminar Hall' was also inaugurated at IIT Madras by Professor Kamakoti.

      (ii) Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Ministry of Railways (MoR), announced the development of the longest hyperloop test track at the IIT Madras, Thaiyur Campus in Chennai.

(iii) The hyperloop features the world's longest student-run hyperloop infrastructure, with Asia's longest 410-meter tube developed by IIT Madras researchers in collaboration with the Ministry of Railways (MoR).
