Lok Sabha Secretariat and MeitY Sign MoU to Develop AI-Powered 'Sansad Bhashini' for Multilingual Parliamentary Operations.

In March 2025, the Lok Sabha (LS) Secretariat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to develop 'Sansad Bhashini', an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered solution aimed at enhancing multi-lingual support and optimizing parliamentary operations.

  • - The collaboration will see the integration of AI products and tools using Parliamentary corpus data, with LS providing the data and resources necessary for AI learning, while Bhashini (BHASHa INterface for India) will deliver translation capabilities and technical expertise.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) MeitY, in partnership with the Drone Federation India (DFI) based in New Delhi, launched the National Innovation Challenge for Drone Application and Research (NIDAR) under the 'SwaYaan-Capacity Building for Human Resource Development in Unmanned Aircraft Systems' initiative.
  • (ii) S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, formally inaugurated the challenge and launched the official website and registration portal (https://nidar.org.in/), along with the NIDAR poster and rule book.
  • (iii) Drone Federation India (DFI) is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led organization dedicated to promoting a safer and scalable unmanned aviation industry in India.
