      - The app is designed to simplify access to internship opportunities for young people in India and increase industry involvement.

      - Additionally, Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman inaugurated the first facilitation center for PMIS in Kolkata, West Bengal (WB). This center has been established through a collaboration between the MoCA and New Delhi-based Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

      - The PMIS App features an intuitive user interface for easy navigation, simple registration using Aadhaar face authentication, and the ability to filter opportunities by location and other parameters. It also offers a personalized dashboard with tailored updates and real-time alerts about new internship opportunities.

Main Point :-   (i) The Prime Minister's Internship Scheme (PMIS), announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, aims to provide 1 crore youth with internship opportunities in the top 500 companies in India over five years, bridging the gap between industry requirements and youth skills while helping them develop professional experience and advance their careers.

(ii) The pilot project of the PMIS Scheme saw significant progress, with Round-I, launched from October to December 2024, posting over 1.27 lakh opportunities from 280 companies across 25 sectors in 745 districts, resulting in more than 82,000 offers extended to candidates. Round-II, which began in January 2025, saw 327 companies posting over 1.18 lakh opportunities, with the application window remaining open until the end of March 2025.

(iii) The PMIS targets youth aged 21 to 24 who are not enrolled in full-time education or employment. Interns will receive Rs. 5,000 per month and a one-time payment of Rs. 6,000. Companies are expected to cover training costs and 10% of internship expenses through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.
