In March 2025, the Government of India (GOI), in collaboration with UN-Women, hosted a Ministerial Roundtable on the sidelines of the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, USA. The session was co-chaired by Union Minister Smt. Annpurna Devi, Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD), and Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN-Women.


      - The roundtable emphasized the critical role of digital and financial inclusion in empowering women and fostering leadership.

      - It highlighted that investments in women's education, health, and economic independence are key to bridging gender gaps, driving development, combating poverty, and nurturing leadership across various sectors.

     

Main Point :-   (i) The event served as an international platform for exchanging experiences on emerging issues and strategies to implement the 12 key areas of concern outlined in the Beijing Platform for Action.

      (ii) The discussions were held through two ministerial roundtables focusing on the interconnected themes of: 'Digital Public Infrastructure to Accelerate Women-Led Development' and 'Financing Inclusion: Criticality of Core Resources.'

(iii) The roundtable saw participation from Ministers and high-level representatives from across the globe, including members of Group-20 (G20) countries such as Indonesia, Australia, South Africa, as well as other nations like Panama and Qatar. During the event, ministers shared their countries' experiences and perspectives on advancing women's rights.
